Meet Mike, Level 1 British Sign Language student with an inspirational story

Meet Mike, a dedicated Level 1 British Sign Language (BSL) student at Warrington & Vale Royal College. Inspired by his partially deaf father-in-law, Mike wanted to improve his communication skills and connect more meaningfully with the Deaf community.

In addition to his personal motivation, Mike is also a yoga teacher and is passionate about creating an inclusive environment in his classes. By learning BSL, he hopes to welcome Deaf individuals into his sessions and ensure everyone feels comfortable and included.

Mike chose Warrington & Vale Royal College because of its convenient location in Warrington and was impressed by the availability of BSL courses for the community. Now five weeks into his studies, he is fully engaged and particularly enjoys learning numbers, money-related signs, and everyday conversations.

Reflecting on his experience, Mike is thrilled with the college's facilities, describing the classrooms as clean, bright, and well-equipped. He also praises the supportive tutors and accessible learning resources, which have made his journey into BSL both enjoyable and rewarding.

Mike’s story is a brilliant example of how learning a new language can enhance personal relationships and promote inclusivity in professional settings. His enthusiasm for BSL serves as an inspiration for others to take the leap and learn a new skill that can positively impact lives.
