Callum, who has always had a passion for maths, chose this apprenticeship after deciding university wasn’t for him. He saw it as a great opportunity to gain practical experience while studying, saying that an apprenticeship seemed like the perfect fit for him!
Callum speaks highly of his tutor, Nicola Wilson. He says: "Nicola is great! She is very down to earth and makes the time I spend in college enjoyable. She ensures she is always available for her students via email if needed—great support to have."
When asked if he has any advice for students considering an apprenticeship pathway at Warrington & Vale Royal College, Callum says: "Don’t be easily led. It's very easy to follow the 'traditional' route of college- university- job. An apprenticeship may be better suited for you, so make sure to explore your options."
In Callum's five months at Kinaxia, his main responsibilities have been invoicing customers and chasing them for invoices and deposits. He enjoys applying maths to real-life work scenarios, such as figuring out costs and exploring different ways of solving problems. On his course, Callum enjoys learning about VAT control accounts and wage control accounts, which he finds very interesting.
Callum hopes to progress through the levels of the apprenticeship at Warrington & Vale Royal College and eventually become a chartered accountant. We have no doubt Callum will achieve his dream career!
