What is the course about?

This course will prepare you for working in a school or college and will provide you with the knowledge and understanding of the school and college organisational structure and function.

Why should I choose the course?

If you are considering becoming a teacher, then this course will allow you to look at how teaching organisations work and give you an awareness of the policies and procedures that govern them. The course will give you an excellent opportunity to prepare yourself for the academic expectations of the level 3 award in training and education and will give you a head start for units contained in that qualification.

What will I learn?

The main learning aims of the course are:

  • Knowing the different types of schools and colleges in the education sector
  • Understanding the organisation of schools and colleges in terms of roles and responsibilities
  • Understanding how schools and colleges uphold their aims and values

Know about the range and purpose of school and college policies and procedures

What will the course lead on to?

Upon successful completion of this course, you will have the fundamental knowledge required to pursue further qualifications within education and training. This could include a level 3 and level 5 courses in education and training.
