What is the course about?

This short course is aimed at providing a collaborative space for budding writers to share ideas and receive feedback from like-minded peers. Whether it be fiction writing, journaling, poems or prose or even factual writing, this space is for you. The aim of the course is to provide you with a consistent time and space to further your writing habits and skills whilst making improvements based on peer feedback, as well as honing your own skills of critical feedback in a safe and curated environment.

Why should I choose the course?

This course will be taught by one of our expert English tutors who can offer support and guidance on your writing journey and help you to develop the skills of acting on feedback and giving constructive feedback. You will be provided with opportunities to critically evaluate the work of your peers, as well as learning from peer feedback about your own work, enabling you to build a writing network of likeminded individuals to support you in your writing journey.

What will I learn?

There are no pre-requisites for this course and it is expected that everyone will be at different levels and capabilities and therefore can each offer their own unique perspective on your writing. The course is not designed to support with techinical English such as spelling, punctuation and grammar, and therefore a good grasp of English language is required. If you feel that you would benefit from a more technical course you may wish to consider our Functional Skills or GCSE courses.

What will the course lead on to?

You may wish to re-join the course again to continue with your writing or you may like to look at our GCSE English course if you don't already have a Grade 4/C in English Language.

What support is available?

We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a welfare team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed. Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.
