What is the course about?
This Next step course is designed to progress from the Introduction course or those who have an interest in making their own crafts from various household and garden items and turning them into reusable fabulous items.
You will be given the guidance, techniques and skills to make different the items. All items will be made using basic straight stitch, hand sewing and glue. You will be shown basic hand sewing techniques.
What will I learn?
You will develop your skills, transform everyday items from clothing, bedding and household items using manual hand sewing or glue and transform them into new useable items using your vison and new skills.
The course content will be based on developing the skills and techniques you have learnt using your vison to transform larger items such covering a foot stool, by recycling bedding or clothing at home.

ACL offer many art and craft courses including ceramics.

We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if it is required and a welfare team that are on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed. Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.

What are the entry requirements?
To have an interest in the subject area. Be willing to partake in classroom activities and discussions and to self-assess your weekly progress using an individual learning plan at the end of each session.

Are there any additional costs associated with the course?
The College will provide some basic materials and fabrics, needles and thread for sewing and glue and brushes.
Please bring your own dressmaking scissors each week and your tutor will advise you on what items you can bring to each week to help enhance your designs, depending on what item is being made for example:
Old T-shirts, Bedding and Jeans. Magazines and paper napkins
Beads from necklaces and bracelets you no longer wear.
