What is the course about?

If you have a passion for photography, this course will help expand your existing skills and knowledge. Alternatively, if you have upgraded your DSLR camera and want to discover which features you will get the most use from, then this course will be suitable for you.

Why should I choose the course?

If you own a DSLR camera, have some prior knowledge of digital photography, and want to improve on your knowledge to get the best out of your camera and move out of the auto settings, this course is perfect for you.

What will I learn?

The course will show you the potential of your own DSLR camera and how to access and use the individual features and settings. From the point and shoot type cameras to the DSLR, you will learn how to get the most out of your camera using the best settings and experimenting with other photographic equipment.

You will:

  • Have a further understanding of photographic terms and uses for photographic equipment and lenses
  • Take animal photography
  • Take HDR pictures
  • Learn how to print and present your pictures (including printers and printer maintenance)
  • Learn how to work with apertures
  • Learn how to work with shutter speeds.

You will be informally assessed by the tutor with the completion of set tasks, and you will have the opportunity to self-assess your weekly progress using an individual learning plan. You will also complete a mini portfolio of handouts.

What will the course lead on to?

We offer a huge variety of part-time adult courses to help you upskill, secure a promotion, get to university, or even meet new friends.
