What is the course about?
The level 4 Award is for practitioners who conduct internal quality assurance of the assessment process within a Training Centre or Organisation and have the responsibility for monitoring the performance of assessor’s and maintaining quality assurance of the assessment process.
Unit 401- Understanding the principles and practice of internally quality assuring the quality of assessment (6 credits)
This is a knowledge only based unit is assessed through written assignment and recorded discussion.
Unit 402 - Internally quality assure the quality of assessments (6 credits)
This is the practical unit where you will need access to two assessors both working within the same centre with a minimum of two learners each. The assessment methods used within this unit will include observation, work products, recorded discussion and witness testimony.
Each course will consist of 6 underpinning knowledge sessions for unit 301, followed by workshops and tutorials and assessments for unit 302 or 303.

If you are a qualified assessor and would like to take your skills to the next level, this course is suitable for you. This course will enable you to understand the process of internal quality assurance and confidently monitor and quality assure the work of other assessors.
What will I learn?
To gain the full qualification you will complete two units and gain the relevant underpinning knowledge about the principles and processes of internal quality assurance and you will gather practical evidence of IQA monitoring and quality assure the work of two assessors, each with a minimum of 2 learners.
There is an option to undertake unit 403 - Plan, allocate and monitor work in own area of responsibility (5 credits) for Lead IQA’s.
A range of assessment methods will be used including – observation, Q&A, Professional Discussion, Use of expert Witness Testimony.
What will the course lead on to?
After completing this qualification you could progress to Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice.

What are the entry requirements?
You will need to be occupationally competent in the units being quality assured, hold a recognised level 3 assessor qualification and have an up to date working knowledge and experience of best practice. In addition you will need to demonstrate you have a countersigning IQA/Mentor whilst in training.
