What is the course about?

The Level 3 Advanced Certificate Bookkeeping enables students to understand the role of a bookkeeper and accountant. You will learn the skills to be able to process transactions through the accounting system and extract a full trial balance including month end adjustments and financial statements.

What will I learn?

Students will develop the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding to enable them to be a part of the accounting function. They will be able to apply advanced accounting concepts and professional ethics. They will know how to make adjustments to entries to create the financial documents. They will know how to account for VAT and complete a VAT return.

There are three units consisting of knowledge and skills assessment criteria and so will give students both the understanding and ability to work effectively in an accounting environment.

  • Advanced Bookkeeping
  • Final Accounts Preparation
  • Indirect Tax

What will the course lead on to?

Those who have achieved will be able to function confidently as part of the accounting team and perform bookkeeping tasks competently without supervision. They will also be able to apply for AAT QB (qualified bookkeeper status).

Leads on to:

Level 1 Skills First Computerised Payroll.

Level 2 Certificate in Using Accounting Software.

Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounts.

What are the entry requirements?

Completion of initial assessment/completion of the level 1 Access Award in Bookkeeping – if you do want to progress on to the Foundation Certificate in Accounting then you would need to have good Maths and English skills. Have you considered taking one of our free adult English or Maths courses to ensure you are ready?
