What is the course about?
You will study mental health and mental health issues, and learn about the role of mental health workers. The course will also cover duty of care in adult health and social care and approaches to care and management in relation to mental health, alongside learning about the impact of change and support on mental health. You will gain a nationally recognised level 2 qualification and develop the skills and understanding to improve the experience of service users through better preventative care.

The mental health crisis is becoming increasingly prevalent in the UK, with 1 in 4 adults experiencing a mental health problem every year. The Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health is designed to provide a greater awareness of mental health issues and the importance of mental well-being. Learners will build a knowledge base that can be used in a variety of occupational roles, gaining an understanding of the skills needed to work in mental health services, the importance of addressing mental health problems, and how legislation and publicity are changing attitudes towards those seeking treatment.

What are the entry requirements?
You should have access to and be able to use online learning platforms and be able to cope with level 2 literacy.
If you are aged 19-23 you must hold a full level 2 qualification.
If you are currently undertaking an apprenticeship programme you are not eligible to enrol on this course.
