What is the course about?

This qualification is designed to increase your awareness of the risks of falling as people age and the reasons behind this. The course explores how to assess, monitor, and review an individual’s risk of falling and look at the range of interventions that can reduce the risk of falls.

Why should I choose the course?

The purpose of this qualification is to increase your awareness and understanding of falls and their prevention. Completing this course will allow you to progress into, or within, employment in healthcare or social care settings. Throughout the course you will gain knowledge and understanding of the impact and consequences of a fall, risks and hazards that contribute to falls, and reducing the risk of falls. The qualification also covers the importance of recording and reporting any incidence of falls to ensure that interventions can be put in place to reduce risk and reoccurrence of falls.

The qualification will cover a range of modules including:

  • The risk factors and causes of falls
  • Falls assessment and prevention
  • Managing falls.

If you are aged 19-23 you must hold a full level 2 qualification.

If you are currently undertaking an apprenticeship programme you will be exempt from enrolling on this course.
