What is the course about?

This course is designed and developed for anyone wanting to break into the digital industries. The course is designed to introduce learners to the latest and most innovative technology and skills needed across the digital industries. You will learn about AI, Cyber Security and Programming, whilst working with our partner employers who are experts across the digital industries.

Why should I choose the course?

According to TechNation, the average tech salary is up to 50% higher than the average for all vacancies in the UK and is still increasing. The course has been designed with industry experts to align with local and national skills gaps and recruitment pipelines of talent. You will work on live briefs set by employers, have opportunities to participate in industry experience and receive industry-specific workshops to enable you to thrive in the digital industry.

What will I learn?

You will learn about innovation and technology, and how to develop technical knowledge and skills. You will cover subjects such as:

  • Mobile app development
  • Programming
  • Cyber Security

You will also learn about the digital industries, how to secure employment, interview techniques and personal development through live briefs set by employers.

What will the course lead on to?

The course can lead to a level 3 qualification in either ICT, eSports or Games Development. You will also be able to apply for apprenticeship opportunities or secure employment in the digital industry.

Are there any links with industry and university?

We have links with ABB Ltd, Apple, Draw and Code, 10:10 Games and Vizbox. The Advanced Creative & Digital Skills Centre is proud to work with a wide range of local and national employers who will deliver industry-specific skills and knowledge during the course, offer learners the chance to take part in competitions or live briefs and often talent spot for their next employees.

What support is available?

We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a Welfare Team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed. Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.

Why should I choose to study the course at Warrington & Vale Royal College?

You will be studying in the Advanced Creative & Digital Skills (ACDS) Centre which is an employer-led, dynamic and innovative area. Staff are passionate about skills development and working with employers to create new pipelines of talent. You will receive expert teaching from industry specialists, supported by employers to ensure that you are at the forefront of the digital industry. You will be exposed to a number of opportunities that will introduce you to the new skills that are desperately needed in industry.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no specific entry requirements but you should be competent in literacy to level 2. You will also need access to and be able to use some ICT software such as Microsoft Office.

Are there any additional costs associated with the course?

There are no specific extra costs. However, learners will need access to a PC/laptop and the internet, as well as any stationery or study materials you may wish to purchase yourself.
