What is the course about?

The Adult Care Worker Level 2 apprenticeship is a programme suited to those looking for a fulfilling career in the Health and Social Care Sector. You will develop your knowledge and understanding of care standards and the importance of the delivery of care to support individuals within various settings, such as residential, elderly mentally impaired (EMI), nursing and supported living. You will also focus on building your understanding of working practices within the responsibilities of the role, required legislation, regulations, codes of practice and standards set by Care Quality Commission (CQC).

In their daily role, the apprentice will work with, not only their colleagues, but interact with a wide range of health care professionals including managers, District Nurses, GP’s/Consultants and Rehabilitation Professionals, such as SALT, Physiotherapists, Occupational Health, Podiatrists and various members of a hospital care and discharge team. The apprentice will work as a member of a supportive team within their setting as a frontline member of staff, improving the quality of life of those they support.

Why should I choose the course?

This apprenticeship is for individuals who are looking to begin a career in Health and Social Care. They will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of the 15 standards of the Care Certificate, a Level 2 Diploma in Care and self-assessment in preparation for their End Point Assessment.

What will I learn?

The apprenticeship is mainly delivered through work-based learning while you are on the job with your employer. However, there will also be elements that will be delivered at college in our specialist classrooms and learning facilities, including legislation, safeguarding, person-centred approach, equality & diversity, and sector-specific training.

How is the apprenticeship delivered?

The apprenticeship is mainly work-based learning. However, there will also be elements that will be delivered through a classroom setting., these include legislation, safeguarding, Person centered approached and equality & diversity.

In addition, one to one sessions will take place in the workplace to complete Progress Reviews, Work-based Observations, Recorded Professional Discussions, Retrospective Observations and the assessment of workplace product evidence.

What will the course lead on to?

Upon achievement, apprentices may choose to continue their studies with a higher-level Apprenticeship (Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker)

Completion of the Adult Care worker apprenticeship is a license to work in the care sector.

What support is available?

You will be allocated a designated tutor to guide you through your apprenticeship. We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a Welfare Team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed.

What are the entry requirements?

Entry requirements for this apprenticeship programme are GCSE grades 9-4, or level 2 functional skills qualifications in English and maths. We will consider those who need to resit either their English or maths qualification, however those that need to resit both will not meet the entry requirements for this apprenticeship programme.

If you are required to resit either English or maths, you will be invited to undertake an initial assessment. If deemed suitable, you must be willing to achieve your level 2 English/maths qualification before the end of the apprenticeship programme as part of your study.
