What is the course about?

Do you love innovation and digital technology and aim to work with industry experts in the future? If so, this course is the perfect starting point to begin your digital career. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting projects which will allow you to create innovative solutions, websites and coding, whilst exploring the latest digital technologies. This course is also designed to enhance your personal skills such as teamwork and communication. You will work closely with numerous local and national employers to develop your skills and allow you to progress on to the next level of study.

Why should I choose the course?

This course is designed to introduce you to innovation, technology, and the world of digital design and development. You will develop technical and creative skills such as web development, coding, animation, and graphic design. The course is designed in partnership with local and national employers to ensure that you are developing industry related and innovative skills.

You will create apps, develop immersive VR programmes, and create animations with support from our expert team. You will take part in a variety of trips and visits during the course to support your learning outside of college. Warrington & Vale Royal College is at the heart of the Northwest’s creative and digital hub, meaning you will have a variety of career options on your doorstep. This course takes place at our Warrington campus, in our Advanced Creative and Digital Skills Centre.

What will I learn?

Throughout this course, some of the topics you will cover include: animation, coding, web development, working with employers through live briefs, innovation and collaboration and working on social media.

Warrington & Vale Royal College is based in the heart of the Northwest, close to vibrant cities such as Liverpool and Manchester. You will have the opportunity to visit Culture Warrington and Draw and Code in Liverpool, to enhance your industry experience. You may also have the chance to work with employers such as the NHS, creating innovative solutions.

What support is available?

You will be allocated a progress coach who will provide you with support to help you succeed on your study programme and progress on to your chosen career or progression path. We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a Welfare Team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed.

What are the entry requirements?

You will need a minimum of four GCSEs at grade 2 or above. If you have not already achieved a grade 4 in your GCSE English and/or maths, you will be required to work towards either a functional skills qualification or a GCSE in English and/or maths as part of your study programme.

Are there any additional costs associated with the course?

We run visits to local employer studios as well as trips across the UK throughout the academic year. There are some costs associated with transport and tickets, but we do work closely with companies to subsidise costs as much as possible.
