Learning on your course will take place in our state-of-the-art salon, The Academy, which features fully equipped professional beauty therapy suites. Being immersed in this front-facing salon environment and working on real paying clients will give the opportunity to put your newly developed skills to the test and receive live, honest critique.
What will I learn?
During this exciting course, you will be introduced to a range of beauty techniques, which will then allow you to specialise in beauty therapy in your second year. There will be a key focus on team-working, along with working independently, to prepare you for work in a real salon. You will also develop skills and knowledge within the art of photographic make-up, provide basic manicure treatment, skincare, provide basic pedicure treatment, and even competition work. Modules will include skincare, basic make-up, basic manicure and pedicure treatments, nail art and health & safety.
You will build a portfolio of evidence including observation, witness statements, audio-visual media, written questions, oral questions, assignments, and case studies.
What will the course lead on to?
After successfully completing this course, you will have the skills and knowledge needed to progress on to the Level 2 Beauty Therapy course or Level 2 Hair & Media-Make up course.

You will be allocated a progress coach who will provide you with support to help you succeed on your study programme and progress on to your chosen career or progression path. We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a Welfare Team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed.

What are the entry requirements?
You will need a minimum of four GCSEs at grade 2 or above. If you have not already achieved a grade 4 in your GCSE English and/or maths, you will be required to work towards achieving either a functional skills qualification or a GCSE in English and/or maths as part of your study programme.
Are there any additional costs associated with the course?
You will be expected to purchase a uniform to demonstrate your professional standards. Further details will be available upon application.
