What is the course about?
This cake and bread course provides foundational knowledge and hands-on practice in creating delectable cakes and breads. Participants learn essential techniques, recipes, and tips for baking delicious treats at home.

What will I learn?
On this course, you will learn a range of techniques and skills, including measuring and scaling ingredients accurately, mixing and preparing cake batters, kneading and shaping bread dough, understanding baking temperatures and times, frosting and decorating cakes, and troubleshooting common baking issues. You will gain a Level 1 Award in Culinary Skills.
What will the course lead on to?
This course is a basic course to support you to develop the necessary skills to progress into some of our more advanced courses such as our fantastic Level 2 Certificate in general Patisserie and confectionery; which also focuses on enriched dough products.

What are the entry requirements?
You must have an interest in the subject area. A good level of English. Be willing to partake in practical activities, some blended learning with access to our virtual learning environment and Learning Resource Centre and you will self-assess your weekly progress using an individual reflective log at the end of each session.
Are there any additional costs associated with the course?
You would need to purchase an Apron and safety footwear suitable for a kitchen environment, this will be discussed at your interview
