What is the course about?

This online short course is part of Warrington & Vale Royal College’s professional development suite. This course supports individuals and employees to recognise the risks of fraud, scams, and identity theft.

Why should I choose the course?

This course is universally important and valuable, regardless of what industry and level of profession you are working in. Having an insight into the risks of fraud, scams, and identity theft can also give you access to a wide variety of career options.

This course will support you to:

  • Identify ways to stay safe online and protect yourself from the most common types of fraud, scams, and identity theft
  • Understand your digital footprint and why putting too much information online can increase your security risk
  • Understand where to go for support and advice should you be worried that you have been a victim of fraud, scams, or identity theft.

This course is completed remotely. The necessary information and materials will be set up through an online platform. You will be given six weeks to work through the modules in your own time

On the course you will be introduced to units including:

  • Cyber crime
  • Vishing
  • Social engineering
  • Phishing and smishing
  • Online scams
  • Money mules

Identity theft.
