What is the course about?
This bite sized 1 day programme will provide an introduction for those who wish to understand how coaching and mentoring can be used effectively in the workplace. The session will discuss the role and responsibilities of an effective coach and mentor, how to manage coaching and mentoring processes, look at some recognised models, and discuss how participants can put skills into practice. It will cover;
- The role and responsibilities of a workplace coach/mentor
- Skills and behaviours of an effective coach/mentor
- Managing the coaching/mentoring process
- Coaching and mentoring models
- Practice coaching and mentoring skills
This session will be delivered online through a live session with the tutor using google classroom and google meets and will involve interactive group work and use of chat rooms online.
What will I learn?
You will learn the differences between coaching and mentoring and how this can be applied in the workplace. This short introduction will offer an insight into the range of qualifications available with ILM in Coaching or Mentoring.
What will the course lead on to?
Successful completion of this course allows progression on to the ILM Level 3 Award in Coaching or ILM level 3 Award in Mentoring and potentially lead to a level 5 qualification as part of your Coaching and Mentoring development.

We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a Welfare Team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed. Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.
