What is the course about?
Throughout this introductory course you will learn how to use brushes and pallet knives to give you skills and techniques which you can apply during the class and at home.
Each week you will use your creativity and newfound skills to complete a painting.

If you enjoy being creative and experimenting with art, this fun short course is a perfect way to help you gain a range of new skills and bring your ideas to life.
What will I learn?
During the course you will learn:
- What equipment there is and how to use it
- How to apply a wash
- How to apply mix colours
- How to apply various mediums to the paint (i.e., structure gel)
- How to create a variety of different land/sea scape images
- How to prepare a canvas.

What will the course lead on to?
There are various non-accredited courses you could take part in after completing this course, including Introduction to Watercolours and Introduction to Drawing & Sketching and Next Steps. Alternatively, you could enrol on to the Introduction to Art & Design, which covers various mediums and provides an insight into accredited art courses.
What support is available?
We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a Welfare Team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed. Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.

What are the entry requirements?
You must be over 19 and have an interest in the subject area. You need to be willing to partake in classroom activities and discussions and to self-assess your weekly progress using an individual learning plan at the end of each session.
Are there any additional costs associated with the course?
Basic materials including paper are provided. If you need to purchase any further equipment, your tutor will advise during the course.
