What is the course about?
A beginner’s guide to Gaming - So, you want to get into PC games? Come on in, pull up a chair
If you’re new to the world of videogames on PC then it can seem like a very daunting place to start out. CD-ROMS are no longer, replaced by game codes and digital downloads. But all of this change has also opened up gaming to more people than ever before. The past decade has seen huge improvements to accessibility and the sheer range of experiences on offer, ensuring that there’s a game for you, no matter what your budget or skill level is. There’s really no better time to get into playing videogames.
This course will introduce learners to playing video games on a console, exploring connecting the device to a tv, setting up the controller, basic navigation, and eventually being able to play independently.
Why should I choose the course?
Video games are a fun and engaging pastime that help with cognitive development as well as socialising with others who share the same interests. The course will give you a basic understanding of how-to setup and operate a games console, maximising the experience.
What will I learn?
Throughout the course you will develop skills and knowledge in:

Warrington and Vale Royal College have a state of the Advanced Creative & Digital Skills facility. Dedicated to Gaming, Graphic Design, Photography, Media and IT studio.
What are the entry requirements?
No previous qualifications are needed to enrol on this course. However, basic IT skills would be beneficial.
Are there any additional costs associated with the course?
Having a home computer and access to the software would be hugely beneficial; however it is not a mandatory requirement. Furthermore, our budget does not extend to paying for college trips so there will be exceptions will optional additional fees.
