What is the course about?
This mainly theory-based course with some practical is designed to give you a basic knowledge and understanding of how to begin to start planning to own your own or volunteering in a floristry business
Why should I choose the course?
The course content has been deigned to equip you with the knowledge of how to start running a floristry business either freelance or with premises.
What will I learn?
- Location of flower shops and marketing including market research and social media advertising.
- Setting up a business including the sale of small gifts as well as plants and flowers.
- Wholesale Flowers, foliage and sundries ordering and flower conditioning care.
- Floristry business Legislation.
- Promotions and events eg: Valentine, Mother’s Day and other special Occasions such as Birthdays, Weddings and funerals.
You will be informally assessed by the tutor, and you will also self-assess your weekly progress using an individual learning plan

What are the entry requirements?
There are no entry requirements for this course. However, you must be aged 19 or over and must have an interest in the course area. You must also be willing to commit to a whole short programme of study.

Are there any additional costs associated with the course?
The purchase of a related textbook is desirable but not essential.
Your tutor will advise.
You will need basic IT skills to use a College laptop during the course. The laptop will be for use on the campus only.
