What is the course about?
This course will provide you with an insight and introduction to working in adult social care, including the available job roles within the sector.
The course will include both taught hours and self-directed study that will be assessed by the tutor.
On completion of the course you will achieve a Level 1 Award Introduction to Working in Health & Social Care.

The course will provide you with an insight into working in adult social care as well as giving you the opportunity to gain employment in the sector.
What will I learn?
You will develop a basic understanding of working in adult social care, including fundamentals such as
- Job roles in adult social care
- Communication techniques
- Principles and values in adult social care
- Types of equipment that may be used in the sector.
A guest speaker will also give students real life insight into working in the sector.
What will the course lead on to?
The course will give you insight needed into working in adult social care.
Are there any links with industry and university?
This course is run in partnership with several local social care partners.
What support is available?
We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a Welfare Team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed. Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.
