There is a huge skills shortage in the trades; brickwork, carpentry & joinery, electrical installation & plumbing.

Did you know that almost half of the nations construction workers are set to retire in the next 20 years?

There has never been a better time to enter the construction industry.

Warrington & Vale Royal College offer a wide range of courses from entry level through to Level 4 (HNC) in the construction trades. All courses are delivered by staff who are passionate about their subject and served their time out in industry.

A lot of our students choose an apprenticeship route as it allows them to gain skills out in the workplace. We offer you the flexibility to start on a full-time vocational course, then switch to an apprenticeship once a suitable one becomes available.

The teaching staff have worked hard over the years to develop strong relationships with employers such as Persimmon homes, Cruden Construction, Forterra, Serco, H20, Taylor Wimpey Homes, David Wilson Homes and Vinci Construction.

All our full time students go on work placement for a minimum of one week.

Student Success

Carpentry & Joinery Level 3 student Drew Morley, previous student of Beamont Collegiate Academy, has been working as an apprentice for two and half years with leading construction company Barratt Homes.

Drew feels he has been well supported through his apprenticeship; “Elliot, my tutor, has guided me a lot throughout my course and has taught me a variety of skills. The course has done a lot for me and helped me to understand that I can do things when I put my mind to it.”
