Warrington & Vale Royal College art student selected as a ‘Young Producer’ for Warrington Arts Festival

Imogen Bailey, a Level 3 Extended Diploma Art & Design student, seized an extraordinary opportunity as a Young Producer for the upcoming Warrington Arts Festival. This opportunity arose through the established employer partnership between the college’s Advanced Creative & Digital Skills (ACDS) Academy’s and Culture Warrington, the organisers of the festival, who offered art students at the college the chance to apply for the prestigious Young Producers programme during the half-term break. Following a rigorous application process, Imogen was selected as one of this year's Young Producers.

Culture Warrington’s creative team recently visited the college to present details about the programme, igniting Imogen's enthusiasm to apply after learning about the exciting prospects and skills she could gain. As part of her application, Imogen crafted a piece of artwork to showcase and shared her artistic journey as part of her course.

Due to the nature of the college’s art & design course, Imogen felt well-equipped to pursue this opportunity, drawing on her experiences in curating exhibitions for Pyramid Arts Centre and online showcases for her projects. The ample opportunities for creative expression and autonomy that she has enjoyed on her course have strengthened her confidence to apply for this illustrious opportunity.

Upon learning of her acceptance onto the programme, Imogen was thrilled to embark on intensive training sessions and workshops alongside her fellow Young Producers. She also received personalised guidance on her ideas for the upcoming festival, tour the cultural venues, and meet the creative minds behind Culture Warrington and the Warrington Arts Festival. Imogen also had various opportunities to meet lots of different artists, hear from the teams at Culture Warrington about the history of the festival, and contributed her insights for this year’s exhibition. These experiences have enriched her artistic skillset, empowering her to contribute effectively to the production of one of Warrington’s most popular eclectic events.

Imogen will now consolidate her ideas and, in collaboration with her fellow Young Producers, bring extra innovation to this year's festival. She looks forward to working with the creative team to enliven the creative space and celebrate Warrington's community, showcasing the town's arts and culture. This year, Warrington Arts Festival will be held between 19 – 27 July 2024.
