To showcase the modern facilities and career pathways available, Year 10 pupils from three local schools were invited to step into the role of crime scene investigators, solving puzzles, uncovering clues, and experiencing hands-on tasters of the Health, Science, Engineering, and Electrical courses offered at the campus for school leavers in September 2025.
Around 50 pupils from The County High School Leftwich, Rudheath Senior Academy and Weaverham High School took on the bespoke challenge, working together in teams to crack “the case of the missing blueprints.” As they pieced together evidence across the different subject areas, each representing a high-demand industry sector in the local area, they ultimately discovered that the guilty parties were none other than their own school teachers, who had stepped into suspect roles to bring the mystery to life.
Sessions were held in the campus’s specialist facilities, including the Health & Social Care Academy’s hospital ward, the Life Sciences Academy’s industry-standard science labs and the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Academy’s mechanical engineering and electrical workshops. Over the past four years, both of the college’s campuses have received over £13 million in investment, placing them firmly at the cutting edge of local technical education providers.
The day was filled with excitement, teamwork, and hands-on learning, but beyond the fun, the event aimed to familiarise school leavers with Warrington & Vale Royal College’s Winsford campus, which is an Ofsted ‘Good’ provider, and introduce them to thriving local career opportunities.
