Meet Ellie Porter!
Former Level 3 Health & Social Care Ellie has received offers to study Learning Disability Nursing at Edge Hill University and University of Chester.
Ellie, previous student of The County High School Leftwich, originally chose to study Health & Social Care after she attended a college open evening and thought the course sounded very interesting and contained a great deal of practical experience. Throughout her course, she has covered a range of modules which she says, “relate to any area of health and social care that you would like to take on as your future career.” Ellie has always felt well supported at college, saying, “Despite the current circumstances the tutors are always there to help whenever needed. The college as a whole want the best for your future and they help you in any way they can to help you achieve that.”
Ellie is looking forward to progressing onto the next stage of her education and feels that her college course really helped her feel prepared for moving onto university. She says, “The information that I have learnt on my course was asked in most of the questions in my university interviews, so it felt easier to answer them without feeling under pressure. They equality and diversity module and the safeguarding module will definitely help me with my course at university.”
In the future, Ellie intends to complete her degree and work her way up to become a senior nurse. She aims to work in the community and become a community nurse. She has chosen this career path because she wants ‘to make a difference in people’s lives and make a positive impact on them feeling more independent.”
Warrington & Vale Royal College are delighted with Ellie’s progress and wish her all the best for university! Click here to find out more about our Health & Social Care courses.
