What is the course about?
This adult course aims to help plumbers and heating engineers who want to install Vented and Unvented Domestic Hot Water Storage Systems to comply with the appropriate Building Regulations and Standards.
There are two distinct manuals, one for England/Wales and one for Scotland, as some regulations differ north of the border.
Why should I choose the course?
This qualification is aimed at plumbers and heating engineers who need to legally install and work on unvented hot water systems.
It is a mandatory certification for carrying out this type of work, making it essential for compliance and employability in the plumbing and heating industry.
What will I learn?
You will learn about:
- Building Regulations (G3) and legal responsibilities
- System design and installation requirements
- Safety devices (e.g. pressure relief valves, expansion vessels)
- Commissioning and maintenance procedures
- Fault finding and system operation
You will gain the knowledge and practical skills needed to install and maintain unvented cylinders safely and in compliance with regulations.
What will the course lead on to?
The course can lead to:
- Further qualifications in plumbing, heating, or renewable technologies (e.g. heat pumps)
- Progression into specialist installation roles
It also enables you to legally carry out unvented hot water work, which is a key requirement for many plumbing and heating jobs.
Are there any links with industry and university?
This course is aligned with Building Regulations (Part G3) and industry certification bodies such as BPEC, LCL Awards, or City & Guilds. This ensures the qualification is recognised by employers, competent person schemes, and regulatory bodies.
