Motor Vehicle

If you are a hands-on learner with a passion for all things automotive, our highly practical motor vehicle courses could be ideal for you.

Working in our fully-equipped workshop, you will learn from expert tutors and develop a range of valuable practical skills.

With full-time and part-time mechanic and automotive courses and apprenticeships, covering autocare, motor vehicle maintenance, repair and fitting. Whether you’re exploring your future career options, you’re looking to enhance your automotive skills or you’re looking to become a fully qualified mechanic, we have the course for you.

Trips and visits

Motor vehicle students will be able to take part in exciting, relevant trips including watching race cars at the NEC Auto Sports show and visiting the Vauxhall factory. You will also have the chance to visit multiple local garages to see the experts in action.

16-18 Years Old

Have you always been obsessed with cars? Do you love being practical and learning by being hands-on? If so, a motor vehicle course could be the right choice for you. Beginning at level 1 and ranging to level 3 motor vehicle, you will be introduced to the key skills and knowledge required by vehicle maintenance employers. You will go on to study a wide range of modules including engine technology, vehicle maintenance and diagnosing faults.

Our short adult courses in motor vehicle introduce you to the industry and equip you with all the skills you need to get started. Suitable for complete beginners, these basic mechanic courses will provide an introduction to engine technology, electrical systems and the chassis of a vehicle.

Level 2 Motor Vehicle Fitting student Dylan Corroboy secured a coveted place in The Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. After completing his course, Dylan headed to the Army Training Centre (ATC) Pirbright for initial military training before undertaking his specialised mechanical training at MOD Lyneham.

Tom Jude

Tom Jude

Tom Jude is one of the college’s expert motor vehicle lecturers, who began his career at 16 by gaining his Level 3 Mechanics qualification with Arnold Clarke and has been working in the industry ever since.

Since joining the college, Tom has loved having the opportunity to share his knowledge and experience with aspiring young mechanics. He said: “Seeing that students are enjoying themselves and seeing their enthusiasm grow with their knowledge is the best part of my job!”
