Distance learning courses at Warrington & Vale Royal College are FREE OF CHARGE*

They:

  • Provide you with a great balance between your studying and other commitments. e.g. home life, work, hobbies

Distance learning is a great way to achieve desirable qualifications while studying at a time and pace that suits you. Most students over the age of 19 will be able to study these courses for free, however, please contact us if you are aged 19-23 and do not yet have a full Level 2 qualification (five GCSEs grade 9-4/ A*-C, NVQ Level 2 or higher) as additional eligibility criteria may apply.

Courses will take between 8 and 16 weeks to complete depending on the length and complexity of the award and number of guided learning hours.

Before you enrol

To ensure the distance learning programme is right for you, we have highlighted a few points for you to consider.

  • You will need access to a computer or laptop with internet access.
  • All the learning materials will be provided via an online platform.
  • You will be expected to meet set timescales for submitting work and will need to manage your time effectively alongside any other commitments you may have.
  • Your funded course will need to be completed within the timescale given, failure to complete the course as agreed will/may result in a £100 non-completion fee.

These Distance Learning courses are accredited by NCFE or CACHE.

Level 2 – Certificate in Understanding Excellence in Customer Service for Hospitality

In the hospitality sector, staff are often the forefront of the business and first impressions are vital. It is therefore important that those working in hospitality are highly professional. Understanding how to communicate effectively, the importance of teamwork and the importance of maintaining food hygiene is essential for staff in these roles. This qualification has 3 units.

Level 2 – Certificate in Retail Operations

This knowledge-based qualification provides learners with underpinning knowledge and understanding of the different aspects of working in the retail sector. Learners will develop an understanding of a wide range of retail subjects, including dealing with customers in various contexts, handling cash, stock management and retail law. There are 3 units in this qualification.

Level 2 – Certificate in Warehousing & Storage

This qualification is designed for learners in all roles in warehousing and storage industries. Learners will develop the underpinning knowledge necessary to support them in their role in this sector. This 5-unit qualification aims to help learners to understand warehousing and storage, how to receive and store goods, process orders and prepare them for dispatch, check stock and update records and customer service techniques.

Level 2 – Certificate in Cleaning Principles

This 4-unit qualification is designed to enable you to achieve a nationally recognised Level 2 qualification. It will improve your understanding of the various dangers of contamination and spread of disease, how to deal with routine and non-routine waste, Health and Safety for the cleaning and support services industry, working with others in the cleaning and support services industry and cleaning of interiors and washrooms.

How am I assessed?

  • You will be assessed online through a series of short answer questions, with no formal exams and learn through self-study from the workbooks provided
  • You will complete the course using an interactive online learning platform.

*Upon successful completion, you will be awarded a certificate of achievement by NCFE/CACHE and you will hold a nationally recognised qualification. If you fail to complete your course you will need to pay £100.
To be eligible for funding you must meet the following criteria
– You are not currently on an apprenticeship
– You are age 19 or over
– If you are 19-23 years old you must already have at least a full level 2 qualification (e.g. NVQ level 2, GCSE A* to C, 4-9).
– You have lived in the UK for at least 3 years
– You are resident in England (not Wales, Ireland or Scotland)
