English at Warrington & Vale Royal College (#wherereadinghappens) provides an excellent opportunity to further develop your English skills on a variety of courses.

Whether this be for enjoyment, employment, or to enable you to study at a higher level, we have the right course for you. Our classes are open and informal, with an experienced team of teachers who centre their delivery on you. We also support your study with online learning, which is easy to access and a great resource for when you want to revise! We offer re-sit courses for those requiring GCSE English to progress on to further study/employment, and Functional Skills English courses, via our ‘Improve Your English’ course, as a stepping stone to GCSE.  This course is bespoke and designed to get you back in to English study. Courses are available in the daytime or evenings for both school leavers and adults.

We are a dynamic, innovative, and forward thinking English team, with close links to the vocational areas of the college. English provision is very much seen as part of the core programme of study at college. Our success story includes the running of our reading campaign where all our English students are encouraged to take part in the Reading Ahead Scheme (six book challenge) and many of our vocational students take part in the ‘Accelerated Reading Programme’. These schemes have a fantastic impact on student results.

Warrington & Vale Royal College is very much #wherereadinghappens; we have a different approach as we try to give students an experience of English that inspires them to engage with language and reading – English here is different, come and see for yourself!

Please don’t hesitate to contact the Curriculum Manager of English, Adam Tudor at Atudor@wvr.ac.uk, if you want any further information.
