Warrington Collegiate apprentice Sarah Bond has been named Apprentice of the Year at the inaugural Warrington Guardian Schools Awards.
The 19-year-old from Woolston has made a huge impact on her employer Rock Oil since starting her Business Apprenticeship there in October. Sarah has made the role into her own and is no longer seen as an apprentice by her colleagues.

Michele Walker, from Rock Oil, said: “She is working extremely well on all aspects of her apprenticeship, meeting all agreed targets. Her work is of an excellent standard, well presented and detailed. She is a reliable worker and popular with her colleagues. She accepts feedback positively and is always striving to improve herself.”
Sarah has made such a good impression on Rock Oil that she has been given the responsibility of looking after their UK motorcycle distribution – one of their largest markets. She now reports directly to the Company’s chairman.
Looking after the motorcycle distributor accounts has seen Sarah work with demanding customers with high expectations but despite her young age, the care she takes with her work and her excellent communication means that she can be trusted to handle these customers with good humour and professionalism.
As well as acting as an ambassador for apprentices within Rock Oil, Sarah has also been an apprenticeship ambassador within Warrington Collegiate. As part of National Apprenticeship Week, Sarah was invited in to College to meet Warrington MP Helen Jones.
Greg Hewitt, MD of Rock Oil, said: “Sarah has surpassed all of our expectations. She has taken to it like a duck to water. We don’t see Sarah as an apprentice, even though she is one, and we would love for her to stay once her apprenticeship is over in February 2017 – we want her to make a career for herself.
“We feel it necessary to point out that Sarah continues to grow and develop at a startling rate and is fast becoming an invaluable asset within the sales team office. Sarah is a pleasure to work with and we are delighted to be able to play a part in Sarah’s professional development.”
