Health & Social Care Success- Meet Jessica Downie

Meet Jessica Downie! Jessica, who is currently studying Level 3 Health & Social Care at our Winsford Campus, has secured a fantastic part-time job at Newton Court care home in Middlewich. Former Penketh High School student Jessica is thoroughly enjoying her course, saying, I have enjoyed learning about all the different subjects linking to health and social care and being able to get experience in different health and social care settings Jessica highly rates the support she has received throughout her course, saying, My tutors have been very helpful when guiding us through our course as they give us lots of reflection on things we could do better. They also are very supportive if you don‚Äôt understand something and are willing to explain things again. Jessica‚ job involves taking care of the residents and ensuring they have all their care needs met. As part of this role, she has gained valuable experience working with people who have dementia. In the future, Jessica intends to continue building her experience in care before progressing onto university to study nursing. She believes her course and her work experience are helping prepare her for the future, saying, My course is definitely helping with my future career plans as it is giving me knowledge and experience of working within care. To other students who are considering studying Health & Social Care at our Winsford campus, Jessica advises, I think studying Health and Social Care is a very good option and allows you to gain experience in workplaces. Also, the tutors are so friendly and always want the best for their students. The college are very pleased with Jessica‚ progress and wish her the best for the rest of her course.
