Creative & Digital Media Interview- Meet our 'Top Tutor' Danny Rimmer!

Creative & Digital Media ‚ÄòTop Tutor‚Äô Danny has been teaching at Warrington & Vale Royal College for the past 12 years, and enjoys sharing his extensive experience with the students he teaches. Danny is incredibly passionate about his subject and encourages his students to be as creative as possible and to come up with fresh, inventive ideas. Let‚ find out more! What does your job at WVR involve? I teach Creative & Digital Media, mostly at Level 3. The course involves content creation, filming, and editing across a variety of platforms. What is your professional background? I have been teaching for 12 years, prior to which I studied Media at Lancaster University. What do you enjoy the most about working at WVR College? I particularly enjoy working with the students and helping them to bridge the gap between college and higher education or employment. I help the students to develop their skills and knowledge, before going onto produce work which is of a very high standard. I love seeing what the students come up with and the fantastic final pieces they produce. What will students learn on this course? Students will be inspired to be creative and imaginative. They will be encouraged to find their own voice. It is a very diverse course on which they will cover a variety of modules such as social media, understanding audiences, production & consumption, and ethics. At WVR College, students will have access to great equipment which helps them explore what they are capable of. What do you enjoy teaching the most on your course? I most enjoy factual media (documentaries) and live corporate filming- creating content for real clients. It‚ amazing to see the students work to a brief and watching them rise to the challenge. What would you advise students considering this course? This course is suited to creative people who want to develop the skills to bring their ideas to life. It is ideal for those wanting to make a change and to express themselves and their ideas. It‚ a very practical, technical course, so students should enjoy this type of learning. What sort of destinations do your students go on to? They progress onto a mixture of destinations, but higher education is the most popular route. Past students have gone onto scriptwriting, journals, live TV, and film production.
