You will have the chance to go on day trips and overnight stays at local and national hospitality businesses, to learn more from acclaimed chefs, producers and suppliers. There are also trips each year to fresh produce suppliers, such as butchers, fishmongers and vegetable suppliers.

In addition to this, every year students have the opportunity to enter the Welsh International Culinary Championships as well as a number of internal competitions.

We are lucky to work with some incredible people in the industry, so you get the chance to meet and learn from renowned chefs in some of the best restaurants in the North West. These include Gary Usher from Elite Bistros, and Michelin-star chef Aiden Byrne, owner of The Church Green Gastropub.

As well as hosting weekly live services at Buckley’s (our award-winning restaurant), you will also complete a work placement for every year of the course. This crucial experience has led to an impressive 95% of our students progressing to part-time jobs following their work placements, at venues including Manchester Kitchen, Australasia, Dorado Lounge, Park Royal Hotel, the Village Hotel, Kirkfield Hotel and Dine Catering.
