Languages & Communication

Have you always been interested in learning a new language? Why not get holiday-ready by taking one of our short courses in French, Spanish, or Italian?

We also offer short courses in creative writing as well as British Sign Language, which will equip you with a valuable new skill and enhance your CV.

Trips and visits

As our language & communication adult courses are part-time, trips and visits are generally not applicable. However, there may be opportunities to practice your language skills in a social setting, such as at an Italian restaurant.

Meet our students

Bob Ellison
My tutor makes the course really relaxed and enjoyable, which helps you to learn. It’s definitely building my confidence to help me in achieving my future goal of attending school in Spain.”

Bob Ellison is currently studying Introduction to Spanish at Warrington & Vale Royal College in his spare time and decided to enrol on the course to refresh his knowledge from previous Spanish studies at the college over 15 years ago. Bob particularly likes the positive atmosphere at college and feels his course is set at just the right level for anyone who wants to start learning Spanish.

Pete Corroboy
I really enjoyed the Introduction to Spanish course at the college. The tutor was great and I loved practising my new-found confidence in the language when I visited Spain for my holidays!”

Jo Ravey

Jo Ravey

Italian Tutor Jo Ravey is extremely passionate about languages and speaks Spanish and Italian fluently. She has studied languages since the age of 13, going on to achieve a BA Honours Degree in Spanish and Italian from Manchester Metropolitan University.

Jo has been teaching at the college since January 2019 and loves seeing her students grow in confidence with each passing week. Jo says: "I love seeing students achieve and overcome their nerves and be able to communicate in Spanish or Italian in a confident and accurate manner. It makes me happy and hopefully I make the class a fun, relaxed and supportive environment, which encourages my students to be able to communicate well and achieve their goals."
