ESOL
Our ESOL courses are suitable for students whose first language is not English. Perhaps you are a complete beginner or already have a basic knowledge of the language. If you have moved to the UK from overseas, are seeking asylum, or are classified as a refugee, you may be referred for this course from the local council or other institutions. The course covers several levels of competence in English, from complete beginners up to GCSE-equivalent level.
Trips and visits
As this is a part-time adult course, trips and visits are generally not applicable.

Meet our tutors
Louise Gresty
Louise Gresty, Subject Leader for ESOL, has been teaching at the college for over 20 years. She switched from teaching literacy to teaching ESOL 17 years ago and has since taught all levels of ESOL from pre-entry to level 3, across a wide variety of courses and qualifications.
Louise has achieved a BA (Hons) English and Philosophy from the University of Leeds as well as a PGCE from Edge Hill University and an MA TESOL from the University of Manchester.
Louise loves how rewarding her job is, saying: "I love the way that the job allows me to meet so many diverse and interesting people. Learning English really helps them to get on in their lives and it is fantastic to see the increase in their skills and confidence. Teaching ESOL never gets boring and I feel that I make a positive difference."
